About the event

"Bob Albanese is a rhymer, a poetic soul whether he is thinking and talking or composing and playing. He has all the requisites—harmonic acumen, melodicism, and swing. With all that, he has nuance, that certain something that gives him distinction. He's not radical or fanatical, but artistically he is never on sabbatical."

- Ira Gitler, former editor of DownBeat magazine.

Bassist Nicholas Krolak, a rising star based in Philadelphia, calls Boone, "The patriarch of the Philly jazz scene, mentor to all…and the torch-bearer of the Philly jazz tradition." That encapsulates everything Mike Boone is about. Above his own individual accolades as an instrumentalist, which are numerous and deserved, he's the consummate steward of this music, in this place—a protector of the realm.

A native of New Yorker based in Northeastern Pennsylvania, US combat Army Band veteran Daniel Gonzalez stays busy performing and teaching locally and abroad. He endorses Bucks County Drums and Red Cymbals of Australia. As artistic director of Vic's Jazz Loft, he curates the jazz program and performs with select artists. Still, Daniel stays busy working as a sideman with several artists.

These three musicians met by chance at a trio gig at NYC's Cleopatra's needle back in 1997. Twenty-five years later, they will tell a story as they explore some of Bob's original compositions. Don't miss The Bob Albanese Trio in the acoustically rich Vic's Jazz Loft at the Stabin Museum.
